Hi Friends – Recently I’ve been having a lot of fun with Periscope. It’s a new live-streaming video app from Twitter. You access it through an app on your phone or you can watch broadcasts on the web. It is a wonderful way to spontaneously connect with people. I’ve been using it to do angel card readings, share wisdom and more.
A couple of things to know about Periscope:
- You can download the app to your iPhone or Android device.
- You “follow” people the same way you would on Twitter, Facebook or Instagram. Once you’re following someone, you will be notified when they are broadcasting live. You can turn off these notifications if you’d rather not receive them.
- If you’re tuning into the live broadcast you can interact via typing in the chat box. There is usually a flow of conversation taking place. You can click on a comment to view the person’s profile and “follow” them if desired.
- “Hearts” are the way you show Love on Periscope. You send hearts by tapping on the lower right side of the screen. You can send hundreds and even thousands of hearts during a broadcast or replay. The hearts help with the rankings in Periscope.
- Broadcasts remain available on Periscope for 24 hours. However many people (myself included) use a service called Katch.me to archive the broadcasts where they can be watched indefinitely. The only thing is that you can’t send hearts or leave comments on Katch.me.
- Are you confused yet? LOL! Don’t be… you’ll get the hang of it.
What I love so much about Periscope is that it is intended to be spontaneous and imperfect. It’s not like a webinar or YouTube video that can be re-recorded and outlined. Periscope really allows for organic flow and interaction with the audience.
You can follow me on Periscope as “LaurelBleadonMaffei” or “AngelLaurel” – it’s the same account. One is my Twitter handle, the other my name.
BTW – there is yet another live-video service making a splash. It’s called Blab. Think of the opening of the Brady Bunch and you get a sense of Blab. I’m going to be trying that one out soon, too.
Here are a few recent broadcasts. They’re archived from Katch.me. When you see me looking at the bottom of the screen and replying to people – it’s because they’re texting with me during the live broadcast. Unfortunately, that part is not stored on the replay. If you can – join us live – that will give you the most robust experience. 🙂
This one is from last night’s broadcast of angel card readings. There are some lovely messages here that will inspire your heart.
This one is from last week when the energy was a bit wonky:
Thank you I loved this. I am just beginning on this spiritual journey and this has helped me on my way. Xxx
Thank you, Jackie. It’s a blessing to support you!

Yeay! Another wonderful person to follow on periscope. I just followed you (I’m @ourgratitude).
Laurel – Thank you for the tips and tricks above! I’m new to Periscope, and that will certainly help me look less like an idiot when I start using it! 😉 Love, Light, & Peace.
