Social media is a new phenomenon that’s only really been around for about three years as a viable business marketing tool. Twitter & Facebook really started taking off as business resources in 2009 and Pinterest didn’t really come to the party until this year.

The cool think about social media is that it’s a perfect platform for soul-inspired businesses. You know why? Because we’re in the business of loving, inspiring and encouraging others. It’s called “social” media because it’s all about building authentic relationship. Old school hard-sell marketing doesn’t work here. People come to social networking sites because they’re seeking community. They want to meet other like-minded people and expand their tribe.
Twenty years ago if you were a tarot card reader, or Reiki master, you’d likely have to build your business through a local metaphysical store and by attending holistic fairs. You’d be somewhat limited by your geography – and if you lived in a small closed-minded community, your path could be challenging.
Social networking has changed all that – because now people from all over the globe, who are looking for someone like you, can easily interact with you.
You’re in this business because you love shining your light and sharing your gifts. Social networking makes this super simple. It’s easy. A few keystrokes on the computer and you’ve just broadcast a message to a viral community of people that are online ready to be inspired.
I’ve lost count of the number of times that people have said to me that they found me while randomly searching through Facebook or Google. Each time you post something to your blog, Facebook or Twitter, you’re opening a window of possibility for someone who is seeking inspiration to find you. The angels love Google. It allows for beautiful synchronistic connections that inspire the heart.
